FEATURES NFB Shoots for Gender Parity of Creatives by 2020
National Film Board of Canada expanded its goals for gender parity by aiming to have women in half of all key creative positions for animated, documentary and interactive works in production as of 2020.
The initiative targets editing, cinematography, screenwriting and music composition and includes crucial roles in animation and immersive/interactive storytelling, where women are strikingly in the minority.
“Our commitment to parity includes a commitment to cultural diversity: we are committed to ensuring an inclusive place for all women,” said Claude Joli-Coeur, government film commissioner and NFB chairperson.
