Community theater stars shine

Annual ceremony honors Valley’s best production­s

LANCASTER — The casts and crews responsibl­e for community theatrical gems such as “Damn Yankees,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Young Frankenste­in,” which were presented during the 2018-19 production season, will take their final bow during the 33rd annual Shining Stars awards ceremony on Sunday at the University of Antelope Valley.

Other nominees include “Dracula: The Musical?”, “Children of Eden,” “Mamma Mia,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “The 39 Steps,” and “The Mousetrap.”

The annual awards ceremony honors the local actors, directors, set designers, choreograp­hers and technical staff involved in staging some of the Valley’s best production­s the Cedar Street Theatre and Palmdale Repertory Theatre troupes had to offer.
