-

Ronnie is a nine-month-old, brown, altered, female German Shepherd that came to the Palmdale Animal Care Center as a stray. During her entrance medical exam, Ronnie had a friendly demeanor, seeking attention, and allowed being handled and examined. During her behavior assessment the runner approached her kennel, Ronnie greeted his handler gate with soft eyes, relaxed body and sniffed the runner’s hand as he approached. Once leashed, she had to be coaxed out of her kennel. She was hesitant to enter the pen. When she entered the yard, a male Shepherd came up to her playfully. She became tense but tolerated him sniffing her body. The male Shepherd climbed onto her side. She was tolerant of the contact but remained wary of him. She walked up to the handler and started to jump on his leg as she solicited affection. She continued to approach calm dogs and exchange good greetings with them. A male Shepherd introduced into the yard came up to her quickly. She pancaked submissively, initially, but then she relaxed and stood up to exchange a good greeting. A calm male Pitbull came up to her and started to paw at her side. The two of them briefly chased each other around the yard. She was tolerant of minor contact as they ran. Ronnie recommended to a home with middle school-aged children or higher and calm dogs.
