HESS, Doris Joy Newey

A resident of Palmdale for five years, passed away in her sleep on July 20, 2022.

Doris was born Sept. 16, 1932 in Ogden, Utah, the oldest child of Eugene and Florence Newey and graduated from Ogden High School.

Doris and her husband Floyd were married July 10, 1953 and lived in Salt Lake City.

In 1960 Doris and Floyd moved to Granada Hills, Calif., where they raised their four sons Scott, Lynn, Mike and Ron.

Doris was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved to serve in the church. She taught and worked with young children, young women and in the church's

women's organization. She is loved by everyone she taught and influenced throughout her life.

She also volunteered at local schools. She worked as a data entry operator and retired from her job as an executive assistant at Blue Cross.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and visiting with her sister and brothers and their families. She was always loving, generous and forgiving.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd and her brother Paul. She is survived by her four sons, seven grandchildren,

11 great-grandchildren and her brother Max Newey and sister Nancy Paulsen.

Doris will be loved and remembered by all of us. She lived her life as a true follower of Jesus Christ.

Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022 as follows.

Visitation (10:00 a.m.) and graveside service (12:30 p.m.) will be at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 35266 87th Street East, Littlerock, Calif.
