-

Snow is a three-year-old, altered, female, white Alaskan Husky that was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center by her owner, who said he could no longer take care of her. He said Snow is great with children but timid with other people. Snow was a little nervous being examined by the medical staff but tolerated being handled. During her first play yard time, Snow was standing at the back of the kennel as the handler approached. She had concerned eyes, retracted ears and a tense body. Once outside of the building, she flailed on her leash and became resistant to any leash pressure. She did not exchange any greetings with the other dogs through the play yard fence, avoiding them. When the handler approached her, she gave a growl warning for space. To prevent any further stress to her, she was returned to her kennel. The handler had to remove the loop leash from over her head using a safety hook, due to her giving show of teeth warnings. During her second play yard time, she entered the catch pen with a low tail, soft eyes and a relaxed body. She bypassed the other dogs and began to roam the yard, exploring her surroundings. She was tolerant of other dogs trailing her to sniff her. She was approached by a male Shepherd and later a female Pitbull and was tolerant of them sniffing her, but she did not return the greeting. She roamed the yard calmly to herself for the rest of her time in the yard. Snow is required to go to a home with high school-aged children and is recommended to a home with calm dogs. To meet Snow, visit the center between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., daily, and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
