Animal ID No.: A5021376 Animal name: Brute

-

Brute is a nine-year-old, black, altered, male Pitbull that was brought in to the Palmdale Animal Care Center as an owner surrender. He was relaxed and allowed being examined. Brute readily approached his handler, openly seeking attention. He did not display any aggression. Volunteers were able to bring Brute out of his kennel for a photo opportunity and a few minutes of play time. During his play yard time, Brute was standing at the gate with soft eyes, a loose body and neutral tail wag. His animal handler opened the gate and he was able to easily place the loop leash over his head. Brute pulled moderately on his leash as they walked to the catch pen. He entered the pen and shadowed the handler with a loose body and soft eyes. Brute remained relaxed as the handler easily placed the collar around his neck. He remained relaxed as he greeted a male Husky through the play yard fence. Brute entered the play yard and became tense with hackles raised as a playful female came up to him. He tolerated a brief exchange before walking away to explore. The other dogs in the play yard came up and surrounded Brute while they sniffed his body. He tolerated their presence while remaining tense, briefly sniffing a few in return. Brute walked away to resume exploring. He was wary as he approached a handler. Brute lowered his head with a low tail as he approached. He continued to tolerate other dogs while in the yard and did not seek them out. Brute is recommended to a home with high school-age children and calm dogs. To meet him, visit the center during its public hours of 2 to 5 p.m., daily and 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
