Animal ID No.: A5533486 Animal name: Zoey

-

Zoey is a four-year-old, white, altered, female Australian Cattle Dog that was brought in to the Palmdale Animal Care Center as an owner surrender because of her focused and fetish attitude toward livestock. She was a little scared while being examined by the medical staff but didn’t show any aggression. Zoey relaxed after a while being at the center and has shown a push and pull playstyle. She is social with other dogs and non-reactive being around them. Zoey is friendly with her handler and easy to leash in and out of her kennel. When her handler opened the gate, she attempted to dash. The handler was able to place the leash over Zoey’s head as she bypassed him. Once out of the kennel, she walked ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash. When Zoey arrived at the catch pen, she approached the fence and play bowed at the group. The handler called her over and she stood on her hind legs and excitedly pawed at his chest. The handler had to coax Zoey down due to her excitement. After a couple of attempts, she was collared and she excitedly play bowed at the runner. When Zoey entered the yard, she approached a male Shepherd. She gave him a brief sniff and play bowed at his feet. The pair engaged in a game of chase for a few minutes before she broke away and explored the yard. As Zoey walked by others, she tolerated them greeting her and greeted them back. As other dogs were introduced in the yard, Zoey approached the fence and exchange good greetings. She remained social and tolerant and displayed a push/pull play style. Zoey is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children. Large dogs are OK; livestock is not. To meet her, visit the Palmdale Animal Care Center during its public hours of 2 to 5 p.m., daily and 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
