WALLS, PHILLIPS, WELKER, Catherine

Mojave — Catherine F. Walls, Phillips, Welker, age 80, of Mojave, Calif. passed away on June 12, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Catherine was born on Nov. 29, 1942.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rex Welker Jr. She is also survived by her son David Phillips (Sylvia), daughters Charlene Gaasch (Brian) and Diane Martinez (Stephan), Kirk Holloway son (Angela). step-son David Welker (Tiffany), step-daughters Jeannie Nuesse (George) and Diana Kennedy (David), 17 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Harry Walls, mother Opal Walls, five brothers, three sisters, infant son,Brad Lee Holloway, Damon Holloway, father of Brad Lee and Kirk Holloway, daughter Tracy Phillips, step-son, Tre’ Welker, grandson Sean Gaasch and step-grandson Joey Estrada USMC. Catherine attended Alpine Elementary in Littlerock, Calif. and proudly graduated from Palmdale High School, being part of the first four-year class in 1960.

During her career, Catherine worked for Lockheed Aircraft as a structure mechanic for ten years, working on various aircraft models such as L-1011, C-5 and P-3. She then worked for Northrup Aircraft for five years as a structure mechanic on the B-2.

Catherine enjoyed spending her free time pursuing her hobbies. She was an avid gardener, a collector of antiques and loved junk shopping. She also enjoyed working on puzzles and refinishing old furniture. Loved being with grand-kids and great-grand-kids.

Shepherds Chapel in Gravitt, Ark. was Catherine’s place of worship.

Per her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
