PALMDALE — The Knight girls basketball team defeated Lancaster 57-36 in a Golden League game on Thursday at Knight High.

The Hawks (4-5, 3-1 GL) led 25-20. They came back from the break and outscored the Eagles 20-8 in the third quarter, taking a 45-28 lead into the final quarter.

Knight held Lancaster (6-3, 2-2) to single digits in three quarters.

“One of our goals was to win every quarter and not let them get inside,” Knight coach Ryan Tarnoff said.

Amia Tate led the Hawks with 14 points, Kailah Holley followed with 13 points, Asha Fudge scored 12 and Alia Tate added 10.

“Very much a team victory today,” Tarnoff said. “Just a really strong team win and definitely a confidence boost going into the heart of league, for sure.”

Knight also went 14-for-21 in free throws. Fudge knocked down all four of her free throws in the fourth quarter, as the Hawks went 8-for-8 to help close out the game.

“Our goals were to get to the line and get the ball inside, which we did very well tonight,” Tarnoff said. “Really proud of the team. Excited to get into next week.”

Knight plays host to Littlerock on Tuesday and plays at Antelope Valley on Thursday.

Lancaster plays host to Highland on Tuesday.
