SIOUX FALLS - Ramona Kay Pesek, born on January 24, 1944, in Ortonville, MN, left this world suddenly on November 16, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r and friend whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.

Ramona was the daughter of Wes and Sadie Wemmering. She received her education in South Dakota at Goodwin Public Schools and graduated from Clear Lake High School. On August 28, 1981, she embarked on a beautiful journey of marriage with Rick Pesek in Aberdeen, SD, where they raised their family and built a life filled with love, laughter and travel.

Ramona is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Troy Diede and his wife, Amy, of Lakeville, Minnesota and Kimberly Diede Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska. Her love extended to her grandchild­ren, Claire and Lauren Diede (both attending the University of North Dakota), Peyton Anderson (attending the University of Nebraska Omaha), and Madelyn Anderson (working in Chicago). Ramona was an avid supporter of her grandchild­ren’s activities and embraced the joys of being involved in their lives.

Ramona’s profession­al path was diverse and impactful, starting at New York City’s World Fair in 1964, igniting her passion for travel. She engaged with her community through her work with NESDCAP and Aberdak Travel. Her passion for service extended to the Brown County Fairboard, where she served with dedication and enthusiasm for many years.

A woman of many talents, Ramona additional­ly found fulfillmen­t as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines. Her adventures in the skies allowed her to explore the world. Known affectiona­tely as one half of the “road warriors,” Ramona and her husband, Rick, shared a passion for travel. Their adventures were a testament to their love and curiosity about the world.

Beyond her family and profession­al life, Ramona had a wide array of hobbies that brought her joy. From nurturing her plants, playing the piano, solving daily crossword puzzles and exploring estate sales, she found fulfillmen­t in life’s simple pleasures. Ramona’s zest for life extended to her love of Broadway musicals, walleye fishing excursions and a deep affection for animals. She was a devoted companion to her pets Finn and Emmett.

A memorial service to celebrate Ramona Pesek’s life will be held at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD, on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Union Gospel Mission, 701 E. 8th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57103, in Ramona’s honor.

May her sudden departure remind us to cherish the moments we have and to live life with the same enthusiasm that Ramona brought to every day. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. www.millerfh.com
