A yes on library bond

-

On Tuesday in Little Rock, there will be an important election concerning a library bond issue. A yes vote will cost the property owner nothing and would slightly reduce our millage rate. It will be of great benefit to our children, schools, readers of books and the overall community.

Those of you who have gone to digital readers will find an ever-growing number of great books available for free download. We will have more computers available in our libraries, and 250 new parking spaces at the main library will be a reality. Land will be purchased, looking to the future, for another library for western Little Rock. Needed repairs and improvements can be made throughout the library system.

Those interested in Arkansas history or personal genealogy resources would find much help at the Butler Center for Arkansas History and Genealogy.

It is such a win-win situation that any person should welcome the opportunity to vote yes on this proposal.

My dad was fortunate enough to obtain his first library card at the original Little Rock Library at Seventh and Louisiana streets in 1935, and he watched the system grow and prosper to where the Central Arkansas Library system can match that of any city this size in the country, and exceed those of most.

Please plan on taking the time to vote. A yes vote is in the best interests of all citizens of Central Arkansas. JOHN A. BECK
