ON TV CONTEST

- JENNIFER NIXON

Let us turn the spotlight to those characters who inspire, who lead, who rarely seem to give out any actual homework.

For the new On TV Contest, the judge wants to know: How many TV teachers can you name?

This is very simple. Just come up with a list of every small-screen teacher you can think of. Yes, you must remember their names. “The English teacher from Fame” won’t cut it.

The characters you name must be actual, official (but fictional) teachers. You may think people can learn a lot from Big Bird, but does he have an official position at an institute of learning? No.

The judge asks that you include the name of the TV series for each character. That would be a big help.

It would also be helpful to number your list. Any questions? Ask the judge. Send the entry (one per contestant), including your mailing address and daytime phone number, to Jennifer Nixon at 121 E. Capitol Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72201 or by e-mail to jnixon@arkansasonline. com. Entries must be received no later than 3 p.m. April 9.

The reader with the longest list will get to choose from Judge Nixon’s Fabulous Prize Pile of TV DVD sets.

Who can enter: Anyone except the winners of the last contest, Karen Quigley of Sherwood and Gay Hargrove of North Little Rock, and Arkansas Democrat-gazette and Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC employees.

Note to privacy-conscious readers: We do not compile lists of mail or e-mail addresses for evil plots or marketing purposes. All entries are destroyed after the judge has selected her winner.
