Accidents on roads in state leave 3 dead

Three people were killed Wednesday and Thursday in accidents on Arkansas roadways, according to preliminar­y Arkansas State Police fatality reports.

A Texarkana man was killed Thursday afternoon in a hitand-run accident on Miller County Road 15, according to a report.

About 3:20 p.m., Steve Alan McKinnon, 56, was traveling south on the road when an unknown vehicle struck his Yamaha motorcycle. McKinnon died at the scene.

The other vehicle fled the scene.

About 4:01 p.m. Wednesday, Jasmine Coronel, age unknown, of Phoenix was a passenger in a Nissan Armada traveling west on Interstate 40 in Pope County when a tire blew out. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which ran into the median and overturned three times, the report states.

Coronel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, Judith Orozco, age unknown, and five other passengers — Kyelee Israel, 5; Maria Miranda, 7; Jessie Coronel, 14; Jennifer Coronel, 17; and Shamk Orozco, age unknown, all of Phoenix — were taken to hospitals with unspecifie­d injuries. Their conditions were not available Friday.

About 6:56 p.m. Wednesday, Bryan Lane, 44, of Kennett, Mo., was driving east on Arkansas 137 east of Arkansas 312 in Blythevill­e when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle was struck by a Nissan Altima that ran off the highway, overcorrec­ted and crossed back into Lane’s path, according to a report.

Lane was taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he later died.

The driver of the Nissan, Matthew Wilson, 24, of Blythevill­e, was not injured.
