19-year-old faces sex-assault case

A Bryant man was arrested Friday on accusations that he sexually assaulted a female relative, Pulaski County deputies said.

Cody Bednar, 19, of 2009 Pleasant Point Circle was charged with second-degree sexual assault, according to an arrest report.

About 5 p.m. May 29, deputies responded to 21507 Reynard Lane to take a sexual-assault report. At the residence, deputies spoke with Marquetta Young, who said a female relative told her she had been kissed and “touched in an inappropriate manner” by another family member, a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies met with the girl, who said Bednar had made physical contact with her on two occasions. The first occasion was four years ago, the report states.

The girl told deputies that during a sleepover at the family’s home, she woke up and Bednar was kissing her and touching her. The girl showed deputies where she was kissed and touched on a doll, the report states.

The girl also said Bednar “touched her under her clothes, but that he did not penetrate her with anything,” according to the report.

The girl’s mother estimated that the girl was 5 or 6 years old at the time of the first purported assault.

Two or three years ago, the girl told deputies, she was awakened by Bednar during a sleepover at the family’s new residence “in the same manner [and] with the same conclusion” as the first episode, the report states.

The girl “was unwilling to explain why she had not notified her mother or father of either of the two incidents,” but said “she was afraid of [Bednar] and that she did not ever want to be around him again,” the report states.

Investigators arranged an interview Friday with Bednar at the sheriff’s office investigation division at 2900 S. Woodrow St.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Bednar “admitted to sexually assaulting his [relative],” an arrest report states.

Bednar was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Spitter stunned, deputies report

A Jacksonville woman repeatedly spat on deputies and had to be stunned with a Taser after her arrest late Wednesday on a domestic-battery charge, deputies said.

Denise Hildreth, 43, was staying at a friend’s house at 822 Mitchell Ave. where she was getting help with an alcohol problem and getting “on her feet,” according to Pulaski County sheriff’s office investigators.

When the homeowner, Anita Duckery, 46, returned home Wednesday, she said she found Hildreth drinking on the porch. Duckery told Hildreth to leave, but an hour later Hildreth was back, reports said.

The two argued and, according to Duckery, Hildreth threatened to harm Duckery and her son and “burn her residence to the ground,” reports state.

The two scuffled, and by the time deputies arrived about 11 p.m., Duckery was sitting on Hildreth to subdue her.

Hildreth was arrested, but on the way to jail, she started complaining of seeing “white spots” and that “she was going to have a seizure,” reports said.

Deputies took her to Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock, where deputies said she tried to assault her doctor.

Hildreth “became very combative” with deputies, and they said they had to use a Taser to get her into restraints.

Deputies also said they put a hood over Hildreth to keep her from spitting on them. She eventually got the hood off and continued to spit, reports said.

She was charged with second-degree battery and thirddegree domestic battery.

Hildreth was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $3,500 bond.
