Mr. JIM BARHAM, 63, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at his lake house on Lake Enterprise in Wilmot. Mr. Barham was a native of Ashley County; a resident of Little Rock for the past 39 years and a resident of Wilmot for the past two years. He graduated from University of Arkansas, Little Rock and he was a veteran of the United States Marines having served during the Vietnam Era. He worked for the Little Rock Waste Water Department for 38 years having retired in 2011. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite of the Oak Grove Lodge. A member of the Little Rock Civitan Club for 30 years having served as President and worked with the Special Olympics for a number of years. He was a Cub Scout Master and a volunteer parent at the Little Rock Racquet Club in the Swimming Program. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maumelle where he served as church treasurer at one time.

He is preceded in death by his father, Andy Barham; his mother, Vera Mae Nolley Barham and a brother, Dr. Jerry Barham. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donnice Hammond Barham of Little Rock; a daughter, Ashley M. Barham of Little Rock; a son, Mark A. Barham of Wilmot; a grandson, Andrew Miller; a brother, Jack Barham of Belle Glade, Florida and a sister, Pat Pillert of Little Rock.

Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Wilmot Cemetery with Rev. Charles R. Miller officiatin­g. ROSIE FLOYD, 84 years old, sunrise September 7, 1928, sunset February 2, 2013. Born in Wilmot, Ark., to the late Alzia Smith- Berow and William L. Talton. Preceded in death by Rev. Henry O’Neal Floyd. She attended Philander Smith and Shorter College where her study was in English. She was a substitute teacher for the Little Rock School District and she enjoyed working with children and ownership of a daycare for many years until retirement. She loved the word of God and was ordained to the ministry August 27, 2000, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where she continued to serve faithfully until the Lord called her home. While serving on the Mother’s Board, she was a great inspiratio­nal friend and spiritual counselor to her church and community. She had a strong love for people and the word of God.

Survived by nine children, Bishop Eddie Stewart (Queen), Betty Wilson, Elder Larry Burt (Brenda), Sandra Floyd, Kim Armstrong (Johnny), Henry Floyd Jr.(Diana), Angela Galan, Bishop Ray Floyd (Joyce), and Teneice Floyd. Forty four grandchild­ren and a host of great-grandchild­ren.

CHARLES EDWARD HALL, 64, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. He was born August 24, 1948, in Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Cook Hall and Joseph L. Hall; and a brother, Joseph L. Hall. He attended school at Scipio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock and was retired from the City of Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Goodman Hall; four stepchildr­en, Travis Minor, Tammy Blevins (Kirk), Felecia Minor and Sherry Beckton; three brothers, Richard E. Hall, Marvin Wilbert and Michael Wilbert; three sisters, Shirley Ann Watson, Patricia Rasul and Erma Jean Williams (Oliver); five grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren; one uncle, Dr. William S. Hall and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loved ones.

RUSSELL LIVINGSTON HOGGARD, 90, of Jacksonvil­le died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the VA hospital in Little Rock.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 69+ years, Marthell (O’Quinn) Hoggard; sons Raymond, Lonnie, and Dennis of Jacksonvil­le; a daughter, Catherine EckelKamp of Little Rock, five grandchild­ren, and four great-grandchild­ren. He also leaves behind many friends from Bayou Meto Baptist Church where he was a long-time active member. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lourinda Hoggard, eight brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Hoggard was a decorated WWII Combat veteran and was very proud to have participat­ed in the D-Day Invasion at Normandy on June 6th. After serving in the military, he worked in the electrical department at the

VA hospital. In latter years, he enjoyed a little traveling, a lot of story-telling and his little dog Betsy.

JOHNNY LEE MATHIS, 65, of Scott passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He served in the United States Army and worked in the flooring industry for many years He loved watching the Razorbacks and playing pool.

He is survived by his wife, Reneye Mathis of Scott; daughter, Heather Russell and husband Jarrod of Sherwood; three grandchild­ren, Ashlyn Felgate, McKenzie Felgate and Riley Russell; brother, James Ronald “Ronnie” Mathis and wife, Pat, of Jacksonvil­le; former wife, Dianne Lovett and her husband, Rick, of Sherwood; and a host of extended family and friends. WILLIE JAMES “BILLY” MONTS, 78, of Little Rock, Ark., peacefully passed away on January 29, 2013. JOAN N. (GOCKE) MORGAN, 88, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully the morning of February 5, 2013. She was born October 15, 1924, in Terre Haute, Ind., where she lived until age 18. When she moved to Little Rock, she enrolled in nursing school at St. Vincent Hospital and graduated as an RN. Soon thereafter, she met and married Bon M. Morgan, her husband of 51 years, who passed away in December 2000. Joan and Bon made Little Rock their home and raised their four children there. She continued to work as a nurse and in the healthcare field until well into her 80s.

Joan will be remembered as a loving, caring and forgiving person. She was active and exercised daily. She loved to ballroom dance and enjoyed seeing God’s creation through travel. Joan was an optimist and always saw the good in others. She also loved God and never missed an opportunit­y to share her faith and how God had worked in her life. She lived a long life without regrets and went home peacefully.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Bon Morgan, her parents Eugene and Marie Gocke, and her brothers, Anthony Gocke and brother, Martin Gocke, OSB. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Gocke of Maumelle, Ark.; four children, Marie Williamson (husband Sam) of Little Rock, Joan Davis (husband Allen) of Little Rock, Paul Morgan (wife Renee) of Flower Mound, Texas, and John Morgan (wife Mesha) of Benton; 11 grandchild­ren; sister-in-law, Caroline Gocke; and many nieces and nephews.

LEO OLBERTS JR., died February 5, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Hospital with his family around him. He was born in Little Rock on June 6, 1931, and was the only son of the late Leo Edward Olberts and Helen Bowlin Olberts. He attended St. Edward’s Grammar School before moving with his family to New Orleans in the summer of ’42. He was a student at Jesuit High in N.O. for three years then returned to Little Rock where he graduated from Catholic High School in 1947. It was during his senior year at CHS when he met the love of his life, Margaret Ann Burnett, whom he married in 1951 after his graduation from LSU.

A Journalism/Speech Major, Olberts worked as an announcer at the University Station WLSU during his junior year and at KXLR in North Little Rock the following summer. After his graduation from college he became first a staff announcer at KPLC in Lake Charles and then at KALB in Alexandria, La., where he was employed when first married. He left radio for the insurance business and spent the better part of his working years in the Property and Casualty insurance industry serving initially as an Inspector with the Arkansas Inspection & Rating Bureau (later ISO of Arkansas) from 1952-1954.

In March of ’54 he joined the highly respected Lewis & Norwood General Agency as a Field Rep and bought into the Agency in 1970. During the late 1970s the Agency reorganize­d itself into two corporatio­ns, Lewis & Norwood, General Agents of which he was President and a local agency Ramsey, Olberts, Krug & Farrell (later Ramsey, Krug, Farrell & Lensing and part of Bancorp South). In 1986 he formed the Olberts Company, Inc., and brought AMEX Life (now Genworth Life) into the state to write LongTerm Nursing Home Insurance. He also served as Vice-President of Operations for the American Management Corporatio­n and worked with them for three years.

Olberts was a dedicated member of the Arkansas Mutual Agents Associatio­n (now the Profession­al Insurance Agents Associatio­n of Arkansas) and served several terms on their Board of Directors and as President in 1972-73. He was the recipient of the Associatio­n’s “Mr. Chairman” award in 1969 for his work as Chairman of their Legislativ­e Committee and again in 1978 in recognitio­n for his leadership as Education Chairman.

He was among the first lectors at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church and served both as a member of the Church Finance Committee for eight years and later as a member of the Parish Council. He was also on the Holy Souls School Board from 1973-76, including a term as its President in his final year on the Board.

For Leo, family get-togethers were the highlight of every holiday season. Each of his children, grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children were very special to him. He enjoyed playing all types of games with them and encouragin­g them in their varied interests and activities. He spent many basketball seasons as a statistici­an on the bench with his son who coached both at Bryant and Mills University Studies High School. He also loved traveling throughout the states and in Europe, photograph­y, big band music, old movies and his iMac.

Olberts is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Ann Olberts, daughters Sharon Sellars, Carol Fox and Patty O’Mara of Little Rock, Cathy Derden of Boise, Idaho, and an only son, Leo Olberts, III, also of Little Rock and by their spouses, Rick Sellars, David Fox, Frank O’Mara, Terry Derden and Marguerite Olberts. Additional­ly, he is survived by 14 grandchild­ren: Elizabeth Sellars, Terry (and wife Nicole) Derden, Madaline Derden Anderson (and husband Rob) Michael (and wife Aislynn) Derden, Katie Derden Duke (and husband R.T.); Nicholas Collier, Laura and Samantha Fox; Jack, Colin and Harry O’Mara; Ben (and wife Amina) Olberts, Rachel Olberts Bilyk (and husband Cole) and Christian Olberts, as well as seven great-grandsons, Thomas, Timothy and Tyler Derden, Eli and Samuel Olberts, Cooper Anderson and Ryan Collier.

There will be a Visitation at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church on Friday, February 8, with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, also at Holy Souls Catholic Church with Father Maurico Carrasso, as Celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Griffith, Leggett, Healey & Roth Funeral Home. SARA SUE REED PASSAFIUME, 79, of Little Rock, passed away February 5, 2013. She was born in Woodbury, Tenn., on February 13, 1933 to Bragg and Myrtle Sue Reed, and was a faithful Christian all of her life. In Little Rock, she was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

As a pre-school teacher for over 20 years, Sue touched the lives of countless children and their parents and was beloved by all her co-workers. Her humble and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

WALTER E. “SONNY” SIMPSON, 77, of Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was born September 9, 1935 in Searcy, Ark., to the late Ivy Williams and Gail Simpson. He dedicated his life to police service. He worked for the Little Rock Police from 1959 until his retirement in 1986, advancing to the position of Police Chief. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Roger Simpson. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Simpson; son, Scott Simpson; daughter, Stacy and husband David Robinson; grandchild­ren, Kyle and Kendall Robinson and Savannah Simpson; sister, Eloise Quattlebau­m; brother, James Marlon and wife Louise Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

MR. HARRY STEWART, age 61, of Little Rock died Sunday. He was a member of Church on the Rock and a Navy veteran. JOE WATSON, 75, of Little Rock, passed away January 31, 2013, at his home. He was born May 12, 1937, in White County, Ark., near Searcy, a son of the late Tilton Tapscott and Ola Mae Watson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo (Frederick) Watson.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, retiring after over 20 years of service. He later retired from the North Little Rock Post Office, where he was the Building Maintenanc­e Supervisor for 20 years.

He is survived by his son, Anthony “Tony” Watson and wife, Shannon Ide of Boise, Idaho.
