Q.

My husband and I have recently retired and one of main things we have on our bucket list is to get our teeth fixed. We are very healthy and active, and we want to stay that way! Like most baby boomers, we have all our teeth, but they are full of the old-style mercury/silver fillings. One of our dear friends was diagnosed with MS a few years ago, and one of the things her doctors had her do right off the bat was to have all of the mercury taken out of her body. I was also reading about this the other day on a very good Holistic Medicine site and they said mercury is a very strong toxin and with such an outbreak of Alzheimers, there could be a connection. Despite all that, we just think the old black fillings look terrible and we are always having our teeth fixed and patched it seems. We’ve been on your web site and we love what you did for the mother and her son on Dateline NBC. Amazing work! Our teeth are not that bad, but we do have a hodgepodge of dental junk we’ve accumulated over the years. We want all the old stuff out and new pretty dentistry where everything is white and clean. He and I both had pretty smiles when we were teens and of course, they are looking old and yellow now too. We do live about 3 hours away so we are also excited about the way you do your complete makeovers in just two visits spaced about a week apart. Traveling in our new motor home, and smiling all the way, is just how we want to start our new retirement life and our Spring. Do you think you might be able to have us finished before May 15th?

A.

Congratulations on your retirement and thank you so much for writing. Yes, we can have your smiles done by that date. Why don’t you plan on making a trip ASAP so that I can examine your teeth and formulate the game plan... maybe on a Tuesday? After that, we’ll begin right away. Perhaps we can do the prep visit on a Wednesday a.m. for one of you, and the same on Thursday a.m. for the other, for example. Then you can go play for a week and come back to see me for your 2nd appointment where you get all your beautiful new dentistry! Just give Rebecca a call and we’ll help you plan your trips. We all look forward to meeting you both.
