HARDING 63, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 30

Harding rushed for 337 yards and seven touchdowns in the first half, including a school-record-tying four by junior quarterbac­k Keenan Kellett, as the Bisons (4-1, 4-1 Great American Conference) won their fourth consecutiv­e game with a victory over Arkansas-Monticello (3-3, 3-3) at First Security Stadium in Searcy.

Kellett scored on a 1-yard keeper on Harding’s first possession, but UAM answered quickly. Jamie McGee’s 35yard field goal cut Harding’s lead to 7-3, and the Boll Weevils took the lead when George Alvarex recovered a fumble by Harding on the Bisons’ next possession and returned it 12 yards for a 10-7 lead with 9:10 left in the opening quarter.

Harding took control from there, scoring twice more before the quarter’s end and tacking on four more touchdowns in the second quarter.

Kellett scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards to give the Bisons a 21-10 lead going into the second quarter, and rushing touchdowns by Romo Westbrook (12 yards), Kellett (3), Ahmad Scott (6) and Ty Finley (4) in the second quarter allowed Harding to take a 49-13 lead into halftime.

HENDERSON STATE 45, SW OKLAHOMA 17

Henderson State (6-0, 5-0 Great American Conference) rolled up 458 total yards and scored 38 unanswered points as it defeated Southweste­rn Oklahoma (3-3, 3-3) at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium in Arkadelphi­a.

Quarterbac­k Kevin Rodgers completed 29 of 40 passes for 378 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Reddies, whose defense held the Bulldogs to 328 yards.

Southweste­rn Oklahoma took a 10-7 lead with 14:12 left in the first half, but Rodgers answered 45 seconds later with a 72-yard touchdown pass to Darius Davis that gave the Reddies a 14-10 lead. It was the Reddies’ longest touchdown pass of the season, and they were never threatened again.

Keaton Stigger scored on a 17-yard run for his team-leading ninth rushing touchdown of the season, and Charles Gonsalves kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to make it 24-10.

Robert Jordan became Henderson State’s all-time leader in receiving yards after catching 6 passes for 93 yards, which gave him 2,026 career yards. Davis finished with four receptions for 95 yards, while Jones had four receptions for 80 yards.

ARKANSAS TECH 14, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 13

Luke Halpin completed 22 of 32 passes for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns as Arkansas Tech (3-3, 3-2 Great American Conference) defeated Southern Arkansas (3-3, 2-3) at Buerkle Field in Russellvil­le.

Southern Arkansas jumped out to a 13-0 lead on Tyler Sykora’s 29-yard touchdown pass to Chris Terry and Mark Johnson’s 6-yard touchdown run with 11:01 left in the second quarter, but ATU’s defense didn’t give up another score as the Wonder Boys rallied with two touchdowns in the second half.

Halpin threw an 86-yard touchdown pass to Cassius Washington to pull ATU to within 13-7 with 3:48 left in the third quarter, and Halpin’s 31-yard touchdown strike to Jerry Anderson tied the game at 13 with 10:15 left to play. Randy Velazquez’s extra point proved to the difference in the game.

Sykora completed 19 of 46 passes for 318 yards with 2 intercepti­ons. Terry finished six receptions for 174 yards.
