ALLEN FURNITURE

Quality furniture with hometown appeal

-

As one of the oldest businesses in Heber Springs, Allen Furniture has been a staple of the Greers Ferry Lake area for 53 years by offering name-brand furniture to the community.

Greg and Candyce Allen took over the family business from Greg’s parents in June 2012 after Greg’s father, Max, retired. Max Allen had been with Allen Furniture since 1975, when it was owned by a family friend, Rufo Martin. Max Allen took over the business in 1986.

Greg and Candyce Allen’s 6-year-old twins, Kenneth and Chloe, accompany them to work every day, just like Allen once did with his parents, he said.

“I’ve been around this store since I was about 4 years old,” Allen said.

Growing up around the business helped instill in Allen the importance of customer service.

“My parents taught me to treat your customers well and be nice to everybody,” he said.

“In a small town, you get repeat business because of word of mouth, so you always want to treat people well.”

The furniture store offers everything from mattresses to decorations, including a full line of La-Z-Boy and Ashley Furniture brand recliners, rockers, sleepers, dining-and living-room furniture, bedroom suites, computer desks, entertainment centers, bookcases and TV stands. Allen Furniture also carries Sleep-tronic mattresses.

“Our stuf f tends to be a more traditional look — not too country and not too modern, either,” Allen said.

Allen Furniture still focuses on customer service with free lake-area delivery.

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
