MISS ANN’S KITCHEN

Cooking homemade comfort food for lunch, dinner

-

With 40 years of restaurant experience and a successful catering company already in operation, it was fitting for Ann Childs to bring her made-from-scratch, downhome Southern cooking to Greenbrier in August 2012 with the opening of Miss Ann’s Kitchen.

“I wanted to convert to a sit-down restaurant,” Childs said. “Miss Ann’s is getting to be the place to meet in Greenbrier where old friends can come in, sit down, talk and visit a while.”

Childs didn’t just open an everyday restaurant, she opened what was voted Best New Business of 2013 by the Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce, which she cons i der s her mos t significant achievement since opening the business.

Miss Ann’s K itchen ser ves only homemade items, including traditional Southern favorites such as fried chicken, meat loaf, chicken and dumplings and peach cobbler. Up until this point, Childs has served only lunch, but starting Monday, Miss Ann’s Kitchen will be open for both lunch, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner, from 3-6:30 p.m.

In recognition of Miss Ann’s Kitchen’s new dinner hours, she will have a takeout special for customers through Oct. 18.

Miss Ann’s Kitchen doesn’t stop there — to-go ordering and catering are available as well.

Customers may simply call ahead during their evening commute from work, and their food can be ready and waiting, she said.

Childs said oftentimes a group can be fed for between $8 and $10 per person with catering from Miss Ann’s Kitchen.
