CRYSTAL ELIZABETH WALLIS SCOTT EDWARD GRAVES
Crystal Elizabeth Wallis and Scott Edward Graves were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Jamestown Church, Jamestown, Va., with the Rev. K. Kay Barre of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, Va., officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ellen and John Wallis of Little Rock and the granddaughter of Elizabeth Kathleen Wallis of Harrison.
Parents of the groom are Betty Graves of Aurora, Ill., and Thomas Graves of Salem, S.C. He is the grandson of Selena Geiger of Aurora and Elizabeth Graves of Fisherville, Va.
Arrangements of garden flowers decorated the church. Music was by cellists Adrian and Cecilia Lauf.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a soft-white gown with a lace-covered sweetheart bodice. The tulle and organza skirt with lace appliques extended to a sweep train. She carried a bouquet of lisianthus, hypericum, daisies, hydrangeas and wax flowers.
Maid of honor was Amelia Northrup Simpson of Boulder, Colo. She wore a strapless cocktail-length dress of deep purple satin and carried a bouquet similar to the bride’s.
Ring bearer was Nicholas Graves of Naperville, Ill., nephew of the groom.
Best man was Will Marcyniuk of Chicago. Guests were seated by Daniel Wallis of Little Rock, brother of the bride; and Benjamin Graves, also of Naperville, brother of the groom.
A reception on the grounds of Historic Jamestowne along the James River followed the ceremony. Guest tables covered in ivory cloths and gold table runners held arrangements of garden and wild flowers in Mason jars.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree in music from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She is a development research analyst for Colonial Williamsburg.
The groom has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and a master’s degree and a doctorate in political science from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is a research associate for the National Center for State Courts.
After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the couple will live in Williamsburg.
