- CHRIS MURRAY

GREENBRIER — The Harrison Goblins erased an eight-point first-quarter deficit then held on for a 68-66 victory Friday night over the Greenbrier Panthers at Panther Pavilion.

Greenbrier ( 10-9, 1- 4 5A-West) raced out to a 20-12 lead after the first quarter, but Harrison pulled within 32-31 at halftime.

Harrison (13-5, 4-1) was down 48-44 after three quarters, but got a lift from Silas Huskey, who scored 11 consecutive for the Goblins in the fourth quarter and finished with a game-high 25 points. Harrison made 9 of 10 free throws in the final quarter, and sealed the victory after beating the press led to Trevor Atwell’s basket with eight seconds left.

“[Huskey] has done that some other times, too,” said Harrison Coach David Stahler. “He’s our leader, and he showed it once again. We tried to limit them to one shot. We wanted to get in transition and I think we did that.

Huskey got the Goblins going in the fourth quarter with a 16-footer. Greenbrier’s Justin Tims made two free throws before hitting a three-pointer from the corner for a Greenbrier lead. Huskey added two free throws 12 seconds later, and Atwell set him up for an easy basket underneath to give the Goblins a 57-54 lead.

Greenbrier’s Tyler Williams tied the score at 58-58, and then converted a threepoint play for a 61-58 lead. Huskey and Dakota Gilley made two free throws each, and Atwell scored in the post off a lob from Huskey for Harrison.
