Arkansas women sweep pair
Arkansas defeated UC-Santa Barbara 5-2 and Southern Illinois 7-0 Friday at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville.
Arkansas (4-1) swept the doubles matches in identical 6-2 scores with Shannon Hudson and Yuliya Lysa defeating Natalie Da Silveria and Jamie Gilbertson while Oleksandra Shorupeiveva and junior Yang Pang defeated Melissa Baker and Lou Adler. Hudson won her singles match, defeating Da Silveria 6-0, 6-1. Makenzie Craft defeated April Scatliffe 6-3, 6-3. Lysa defeated Gilbertson 7-5, 6-7 (3), 1-0 (10-3) and Mia Jurasic defeated Stacy Ham 6-3, 6-0.
Against Southern Illinois, Arkansas won all of its matches in consecutive sets. Hudson and Lysa secured a doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Meagan Monaghan and Natasha Tomishima. Craft and Natassia Rubel earned another doubles point with a 6-3 victor over Vitoria Beiaro and Polina Dozorfseva.
Mila Jurasic and Lysa improved to 4-0 with victories over Vitoria Beiaro and Yana Golovkina. Craft secured the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Athena Chrysanthou.
