Greers Ferry has everything people need for an enjoyable getaway. Located on the east side of Greers Ferry Lake, overlookin­g The Narrows portion of the lake, the city is a popular gathering spot for visitors because of its convenient access to water sports, recreation and lake shing, as well as the many amenities that come along with any lake adventure.

Ideal vacation spot

The area offers charming motels, bed-and-breakfast spots and rental homes, as well as various campsites at Devils Fork, Shiloh, Hill Creek and Sugarloaf parks. The city has a wide variety of restaurant­s ready to feed hungry families. Before heading home, visitors will want to check out the unique shops to take home special items to remember their visit to Greers Ferry. Several local marinas cater to visitors’ boating needs. Looking for a game of golf? There are two golf courses only 10 miles from the center of the city.

Best shing area on Greers Ferry Lake

If shing is at the top of your list of things to do, some of the best shing on Greers Ferry Lake is on the waters around the city of Greers Ferry. Whether you are looking for a good shing experience for the family or are part of a shing club, the lake supports healthy population­s of black bass (largemouth, smallmouth and spotted), hybrid and striped bass, white bass, bream, crappie, cat sh and walleye. World-record catches have been recorded on the lake, including the record hybrid bass in 1997 that weighed 27 pounds, 5 ounces, and the record walleye at 22 pounds, 11 ounces. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owns the Devils Fork Fish Tournament Center and is responsibl­e for scheduling tournament­s and events. The Greers Ferry Area Chamber of Commerce assists with planning these major events throughout the year.

Beautiful landscape

Beginning in early spring, the countrysid­e is alive with wild owers, redbud and dogwood trees in full bloom and a variety of birds, ranging from bluebirds to eagles. October brings the Flaming Fall Revue, when the hillsides are a re with changing foliage. A trip to the area is a must for the camera bug or nature lover. The Greers Ferry Area Chamber of Commerce will host the annual lighted boat parade at 7 p.m. June 27. The parade will begin at Devils Fork Tournament Center and end at Lacey’s Marina.
