2 from Monette die in head- on crash

Arkansas State Police reported two Monette residents were killed in a two- vehicle crash in Craighead County early Thursday.

Zachary Wells, 20, of Monette was driving a 2006 GMC east on Arkansas 18 at 2: 49 a. m. when a tractor- trailer in the westbound lane crossed the centerline and hit the GMC head- on, according to a report.

Wells and his passenger Tanner Platz, 19, were pronounced dead at the scene. Chad Marshall, 44, of Jonesboro, the driver of the tractortrailer, was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

At the time of the accident, rain was falling and roads were wet.
