LEAINE S. COHEN, 91, of Little Rock, died December 22, 2015. She was born August 2, 1924, in McGhee, Ark. to Joe and Margarite Selz. She graduated from Little Rock High School and worked as Office Manager at Little Rock Foot Clinic. She loved working with numbers, solving puzzles of all kinds, reading, horses, bowling and doting on her grandchild­ren.

Leaine did numerous volunteer activities some of which are: American Red Cross, Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Walk for Chrons and Colitis Foundation and Sisterhood Agudath Achim. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Marvin F. Cohen.

Survivors include children Jerry (Susan), Terri (Marc Sherman) and Perry (Jana). Grandchild­ren: Quinton, Marshall, Elizabeth, Charlie and William Cohen, Matt and Becky Sherman.

A very special thank you to her caregivers, who have become part of our family, Eula Bones, Sam Bones and Dominique Mahan. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, December 24, at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Jewish Cemetery. HEATHER LORAINNE HENSCHEL (Parker) was promoted to the rank of A GOOD SOLDIER today – she flew to Heaven on December 20, 2015 on the same wings that brought her into our lives on May 1, 1981. She will celebrate Christmas with loved ones, Gpa Harry Walter Henschel, Gpa “Smokey the Bear” Oliver Clayton Smith, Gma Betty Ann Rowe Henschel Smith, her sister Sarah Ann Henschel, and her children, Baby Angel Pepper and Baby Isaac Parker.

Heather taught us to always look to God for answers and to believe in His Promises, she was steadfast in her love - of faith, family, friends, fellowship and fun! Her purpose on this earth was simply to love those she met and show them the joy of living an extra-ordinary life!

–––––❖––––– DEBORAH ANN “DEBBIE” KOON, 53, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away, Monday, December 21, 2015. She was born May 4, 1962 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Jessie Fowler and Carmen Rodriguez. She was a retired event planner and of the Catholic faith. She loved to bake, garden and decorating. She loved being around her family especially her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaugh­ter, Addison Spikes.

–––––❖––––– CONWAY — Richard Takeshi Fujita, 81, of Conway, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, December 22, 2015. He was born February 7, 1934, in Bell, Calif., to the late Harry S. and Fusae Kanamaru Fujita. Richard was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jack and Molly Fujita; son, Bryan Castleberr­y; and grandson, Jesse Hutson.

Richard was a member of Parkview Methodist Church in Benton. He retired from Tyson Foods in 2004 as a Transporta­tion Manager. After his retirement he took many trips delivering camping trailers and school buses across the United States and later auto parts all over Arkansas. Richard was an avid Razorback and Sooner fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a very friendly person, who always had a smile and a funny story to share.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Martha, and many friends and family.

–––––❖––––– DeWITT — Otelia Fitzpatric­k, 96, passed away December 21, 2015, at DeWitt Nursing Home. She was born June 17, 1919, in Ethel, Ark., to Willie Duncan and Searcy Hearns. She was a member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church and retired from housekeepi­ng at DeWitt Nursing Home. She was known to many as Miss “T”.

She was preceded in death by five sons Willie Lee Fitzpatric­k, George Wilbert Fitzpatric­k, Louis Gene Fitzpatric­k, Ervin Wayne Fitzpatric­k, and Daren Duncan; and one grandson Craig Duncan.

She is survived by seven children Wyonnie Slater of Gillett, Ruthie Barnes of Dallas, Rodney Duncan of Little Rock, Denise Duncan, Jackie Duncan, and Karen Duncan all of DeWitt, and Favarin Smith of Little Rock; and numerous grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

–––––❖––––– EAST END — Roscoe Vanis (Junior) Mashburn, age 89, of the East End community passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015. He was born July 13, 1926, to the late Ross and Virgie (Adams) Mashburn. Roscoe retired from the Pirelli Tire Company in 1984. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during the second World War with the Fifth and Second Marine Divisions, in fact he was the last surviving World War II veteran who was born and raised in the East End Community. He was a lifetime member of the Second Marine Division Associatio­n, Arkansas/Mississipp­i Chapter and the National World War II Museum.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 65 years, Elzie (Brewer) Mashburn.

He is survived by his sister Mamie Reeder; one son Ross Mashburn and his wife Mary; two daughters Betty Kaucher and her husband John, Clara Sue Cole and her husband Jerry. Roscoe leaves behind five grandchild­ren, John Alan Kaucher, Micheal Kaucher, Jennifer (Haney) Morgan, Jeffrey Haney Sr., and Jessica Mashburn; also 15 great-grandchild­ren; and four great-great-grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of Roscoe’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 26, at Ashby Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday before the service.

–––––❖––––– HOT SPRINGS — Arthur Eugene “Ott” Ray passed away December 22, 2015. Ott was born January 3, 1927, to Clyde E. and Gladys Lorraine (Wofford) Ray in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Ott grew up in Hot Springs and attended Oaklawn Grade School where he was a member of the Buttermilk Boys Baseball Team. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1944 where he had spent many hours enjoying baseball (2nd base), football, basketball, and hunting.

At the age of 17, Ott began serving in the U. S. Navy during WWII as a radio operator, RM3. After the war ended, he attended the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le where he was a member of the Theta Tau Fraternity and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineerin­g, class of 1950. Ott was a Profession­al Engineer and retired from Entergy as District Manager after 37 years of service. His profession­al activities included serving as the Arkansas President of the Society of Profession­al Engineers and of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He also was appointed by then Governor, Bill Clinton, to the State Board of Registrati­on for Profession­al Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Ott was very active in the community serving as either President or Chairman of the United Way of Garland County, Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Hot Springs Planning Commission, Hot Springs Civil Service Commission and Hot Springs Lions Club. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Garland County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Ott was a member of the Roy L. Murphy Razorback Club and was a loyal Razorback fan and football season ticket holder for over 60 years. He also was a longstandi­ng member of the Lake Ouachita Camping Associatio­n, LOCA. He was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed playing golf and held the title of World Champion in Washer Pitching. But more than anything, he treasured his family. He was completely devoted to the love of his life, Cora Lee, his four daughters, his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. He will be remembered for his entertaini­ng attempts to make a long story short, his big smile and his contagious laugh. His daughters often heard him described by others as “One of the nicest men I’ve ever met”.

He was predecease­d by his parents, his brother, Arliss Dean Ray and wife Ardyth (“Jackie”) Lee Sharman, and one infant daughter, Melanie Sue.

Arthur Eugene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cora Lee (Sparks) Ray, daughters Paula Lynn Linington (Greg) of Hot Springs and their children Justin Ray Linington (Jenna) of Houston, Texas and their daughter Ava Marie and Lauren Blythe Buttrum (Brad) of Hot Springs and their son Paxton Ray, Sharon Lee Bridges (Mike) of Hot Springs and their children Cori Annette of Greenville, Texas and Michael Ray of College Station, Texas, Shelly Jean Beck (Ben) of Hot Springs and their children Garrett and Hannah, and Donna Laurie Galloway of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and her children Louie Altheimer, Courtney Lee, and Erin Lynn. Arthur is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilynn Geurin (Jim) and family, his brother’s children Sandra Lee Muller (John) of Colleyvill­e, Texas, Nancy Ray Bond of West Linn, Oregon, Laurie Jean Goss of Dunn Loring, Va., James Clyde Ray (Nancy) of The Woodlands, Texas and Joseph Thomas Yannetti of Mesquite, Texas and his brother’s many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday with funeral service immediatel­y following at 2 p.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Dr. John McCallum officiatin­g. Burial will be private.

Pallbearer­s will be Greg Linington, Mike Bridges, Ben Beck, Justin Linington, Michael Bridges, Louie Galloway V, Garrett Beck and Brad Buttrum.

Honorary Pallbearer­s are Hot Springs High School Class of 1944, Hot Springs Lions Club, Entergy employees, LOCA, and members of the evening bridge club.

He was born October 2, 1930, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of the late Walter A. “Dick” Davis, Sr. and the late Annie M. Crenshaw Davis. He was a Marine veteran and a Shift Foreman at a Corrugated Box Industry.

He is survived by his wife, Macel W. Hill Davis of Houston; son, Jerry M. Davis (Diane) of Conway; grandson, Dr. John Davis (Jamie) of Colorodo Springs, Colorado; granddaugh­ter, Janna Melton of Sherwood; and six great-grandchild­ren.
