2 held in carjacking charged in shooting

Two Little Rock teenagers have been charged in connection with a Jan. 31 shooting in southwest Little Rock.

Brian Austin, 15, and Gregory Smith, 16, were already in custody at the Pulaski County jail on unrelated carjacking charges.

The shooting victim identified the teens in a photo lineup, according to Little Rock police.

The victim, whose injuries were minor, told police two unknown people robbed him with a gun at 8600 Community Road more than a week ago, but they had not been identified until Monday.

Austin and Smith now face additional first- degree battery and aggravated robbery charges, police spokesman Steve McClanahan said.

The teens made national headlines after they were arrested Feb. 2 for reportedly stealing a car at knife point.

Less than a day before their arrests, the boys had been interviewed by KARK- TV Channel 4 reporter Shannon Miller as part of story titled “Teens, community members weigh- in on youth violence.”

The story was in response to three separate homicides in Little Rock on Jan. 31. Two other

Woman tells police of intrusion, assault

An unknown man invaded a woman’s home, struck her with a baseball bat, sexually assaulted her and made her cook him a meal, police said.

The 47- year- old victim told Little Rock officers a black manfollowed her into her home in a Mabelvale mobile home park at 11500 Chicot Road at 9: 30 a. m. Thursday, according to a police report.

The man hit her with a baseball bat and forced her to touch him sexually, the report stated.

The suspect then coerced the woman into the bathroom to clean up while he washed himself with bleach and PineSol, the woman told police.

Before leaving, the suspect told the woman to cook him ramen noodles while he drank a beer and threatened to kill her if she alerted authorities. He also went through the woman’s personal documents and bills, threatening to kill family members as well.

The man reportedly left the residence with the woman’s cell phone, money and DVD player.

In all, the woman was held against her will for more than two hours; she ran to a neighbor’s house immediately after the suspect left to call police, the report said.

Investigators found signs of a struggle, blood on the wall and a bottle of bleach accompanied by the smell of chemicals in the home, according to the report.

Police followed several leads, but the victim could only provide a vague description of her attacker, the report stated.

Woman tells police raped by solicitor

A North Little Rock man raped a woman at gunpoint after arranging to pay her in exchange for sex at a south Little Rock hotel, police said.

The 24- year- old victim initially told investigators that a 21- year- old man randomly knocked on her door Saturday afternoon at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites at 7900 Scott Hamilton Drive.

Later, however, she admitted that the man contacted her through Backpage. com, a website commonly used to solicit sex, according to a police report.

After ensuring the two were alone in the room, the man forced the woman to have sex with him for 20 minutes at gunpoint, the report stated.

The man then made her go into the bathroom and fled the area with her cell phone and $ 300, the report said.

The woman said she did not know her attacker, but recognized him from a friend’s Facebook post, the report said.

Police also observed the man enter and leave the victim’s room on surveillance video, the report said.

Police had not arrested anyone Monday night.
