A Jonesboro teenager was in jail Wednesday, accused of hitting five people twice with her car.

Liberty Torrez, 18, is accused of hitting the group in front of a Jonesboro home Monday night during an altercation over a “male subject,” according to police.

The fight was reported shortly after 6 p.m. that day in the 4000 block of Gabrial Court, and sent the victims, whose ages ranged from 15 to 22, to hospitals with minor injuries, a report states.

Jonesboro police said Torrez traveled north from a “cove” on the road and struck the five one time with her blue 2016 Kia Rio before continuing north, then turning around to strike them again.

Torrez later admitted to intentionally hitting the victims with her car in a Facebook post that included a photo taken at the scene, police said. That post included Torrez saying that next time she would use a “9” instead of a vehicle.

One of the victims, whose identity was not released, told authorities that Torrez had suggested meeting up at the home around 3 p.m. to fight after a series of messages by text and on Facebook.

That meeting time was disregarded, but Torrez showed up around 6 p.m., police said.

Torrez was being held at the Craighead County jail Wednesday afternoon on charges of second-degree battery and aggravated assault, records show.
