2 crashes on roads in state leave 3 people dead

A single- vehicle crash in Chicot County killed one man Wednesday, while a separate crash earlier this month in Clay County killed two others, according to preliminar­y reports from the Arkansas State Police.

The weather was cloudy and the road was wet Wednesday morning when a car driven by a 66- year- old man crashed in Eudora, according to a report.

Eddie Purvis of Oak Grove, La., died Wednesday after his car crossed the centerline while heading south on Arkansas 159, police said. He over- corrected, and the 2004 Dodge Stratus came to a stop on the side of the road in trees, police said.

Police reported Wednesday that a single- vehicle crash in Clay County earlier this month killed two people, according to a report.

Tracy Tippitt, 43, of Piggott and Christophe­r Smith, 25, of Rector were traveling east on Clay Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bridge,
