ALEXANDER — Cory D. Bennett, 45 of Alexander, passed away July 26, 2016. He was born May 24, 1971 in North Little Rock to Danny and Brenda Hughes Bennett. Cory was an avid hunter, his passion was Duck and Turkey Hunting. He especially loved his “Cadillac Hole” on the Cache River. Cory was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Associatio­n and graduate of U. A. L. R.

He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts, Dallas and Erma Hughes and Mary Bennett. Cory is survived by his wife, Marla Bennett of Alexander; daughters, Emily Bennett of Columbus, Ohio, and Summer Bennett of San Antonio, Texas; step- children, Cody ( Brittney) Harmon and Katy Harmon, both of Benton; parents, Danny and Brenda Bennett of West Little Rock; grandparen­ts, Vaughn ( Tommie) Bennett of Sherwood; step- grandchild­ren, Carsen and Breylei Harmon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and hunting buddies.

––––– – –––– CONWAY — Johnny W. Davis, 78, of Conway went to be with the Lord July 27, 2016. He was born June 30, 1938 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Floyd Howard and Ruth King Davis. Johnny was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Fulmer; brother, Floyd Howard Davis Jr.; and step father, Kenneth Pate.

Johnny was raised in the Baptist Faith and attended Round Mountain Community Church, where he and his brother sang and his mother was the pianist. He was an Executive of United Technologi­es Corporatio­n and an author, who published four books after his retirement. Johnny was an avid golfer and fisherman, who also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bobbi Davis; son, Scott Davis ( Julie); brother, Pat Davis ( Dula); grandson, Christophe­r Davis; and a multitude of bonus grandchild­ren, great- grandchild­ren, and nieces and nephews.

––––– – –––– GREENWOOD — Frances Fooks Newhouse, 85, of Greenwood, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away July 27, 2016 in Fort Smith. She was born March 28, 1931 in Camden, Ark., to Benjamin Tyndle and Gulnara Estelle Thornton Fooks. She was a former librarian for the Arkansas Tech University, Centenary College in Shreveport, La., and the Sebastian County Law Library. She was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband Paul R. Newhouse Sr. of Greenwood; one daughter, Catherine and husband Steven Breedlove of Mount Ida, Ark., one son, Paul R. Newhouse Jr. of Bonanza, Ark.; and one grandson, Shelby Breedlove.

Funeral service will be Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11 a. m. in the Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial to follow at 1 p. m. in the U. S. ––––– – –––– HOXIE — Joann Claire Dickey, 61, of Hoxie, died at her home after battling cancer, Monday, July 25th, 2016. Born April 12, 1955, in Westfield, Mass.; daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Monahan Kallaugher.

In 1973 Joann received the National Defense Service Medal and was a Navy Medical Assistant, as well as an honorable discharged Veteran. A business woman and Co- owner of Sugar Ridge Records, The Nut ra-Treat company and Dickey Tree Service. Joann enjoyed running the office, singing and placing songs for the Sugar Ridge Music publishing company. She was part owner of several copyrights and trademarks, as well as U.S. and foreign patents. Joann will be missed by all that knew her. She had a unique voice with almost perfect pitch and she touched a lot of lives.

She is survived by her partner and husband of 34 years, Maylon Ed Dickey of the home; one stepson, Maylon E. Dickey II of Caruthersv­ille, Mo.; four grandchild­ren, Whitney, Taylor, Hunter and Hannah; one great- grandson, TJ; three sisters and their husbands, Kathy M. and Hank Cassidy of Schenectad­y, N. Y ., Shell aA. and Joe Long of Agawam, Mass., Theresa J. and Cliff Becker of Clearwater, Fla.; and many other relatives and friends.

––––– – –––– MALVERN — Geraldine Steed, of Malvern, went to be with her Savior and heavenly family July 27, 2016. An angel to her family here on earth, now has her angel wings in heaven. Born in Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas, to the late Ernest and Lola Mae Cagle, she ventured out to Alaska and Germany before returning to Malvern, where she taught first grade at Malvern Public Schools for 32 years, retiring with over 50 years as an educator. She had a love for the outdoors which showed in her beautiful flower gardens, and was a big fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and spent many hours volunteeri­ng at the Clothes Closet.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, John Howard Cagle. Left to cherish her memories: sisters, Margie Pye and Carolyn Beene ( Allen) of Malvern; nephews, Lynn ( Debbie) Pye and Dustin Beene; nieces, Melissa ( Milton) Franklin, Angie ( Kevin) Whitley and Amanda ( Lindsay) Roberts whom she treated as her own children; 10 great- nieces and nephews, Mindy, Jason, Bobby, Noah, Addison, Terry, Brian, Isaac, Mariah and Rose; former students and teachers, friends, church family and special caretaker, Joyce Loyd.

NEWARK — Bedola McAllister Fortner McDoniel, 88, of Newark, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2016. She was born March 15, 1928, in McRae, Arkansas, to the late Stewart McAllister and Alpha ( Laferney) McAllister Lane. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Fortner, and granddaugh­ter, Amber Love.

Mrs. McDoniel was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart.

This was evident in her love for music, being the song leader for the White Oak and Magness Baptist Churches for 65 years. Bedola worked for Vickers in Searcy for several years. She also was a substitute teacher in Griffithvi­lle as well as a farmer. She enjoyed serving others, camping with her grandchild­ren, wood carving, painting, and gardening.

If you were crying, she would sing, “Let a smile be your umbrella on any, any day”. If you were feeling sorry for yourself she would say, “Nobody likes me, everybody hates me. I think I’ll go eat worms! Big fat juicy ones, eensie weensy squeensy ones. See how they wiggle and squirm!

If you ever met her she would give you the fisherman’s hand shake before you left. She never talked about anyone and didn’t want you talking bad about people. She loved laughter and life. She had an ornery side like her dad. She scared a few care givers, then would laugh about it.

She trusted God with every inch of her body. She talked about God to everyone she met. She was a soul winner for Christ. She was a blessing even when she didn’t know who you were. She could still say the most sincere prayers till the day she died. Her prayer was that everyone in the world would come to know Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Hubert McDoniel of Newark; daughter, Tonia Fick of Denmark, Arkansas; grandchild­ren Candace Owens, Zebulan Owens ( Madison), Marty Spiva ( Tanya) and Ricky Spiva; six great- grandchild­ren; sisters, Evelyn Williams of Benton, June Thurman ( Charlie) of Missouri and Shirley Hopper ( Craig) of Louisiana; brothers, Jim McAllister ( Virginia) of Florida and Bobby Lane of Conway; step- children, Gary McDoniel ( Sandy), Larry McDoniel ( Teresa), Robin Reicheter ( Alan) and Kathy Pike ( Randy), all of Kansas. also many other loving family members and friends.
