Lane shut longer on Norfork Dam

Work by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers on Arkansas 177 over the Norfork Dam in Baxter County will require extending a lane closure that began in April to Aug. 15, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The northbound lane will be closed through 4 p. m. Aug. 15 to allow the Corps of Engineers to continue to work on the two intake gates for the dam’s power plant.

The Corps of Engineers said motorists traveling in the area should expect delays, obey traffic lights and drive cautiously around workers and equipment. The closure is being coordinated with emergency services and law enforcement agencies, the agency said.
