More than 150 boys and girls participated in this fund last year, performing such services as janitor work, cleaning the campus, repair work, stenography and typewriting, assistants in laboratories, etc.

If Gov. Bill Clinton left it up to his supporters in Northwest Arkansas to decide, he’d take a stab at the Democratic presidential nomination. Earlier this week, the governor announced he would take a private tour of the state to ask Arkansans if he should break a 1990 gubernatorial campaign promise and run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992. He began his travels Wednesday in such towns as Conway and Russellville.

The utilities responsible for treating sewage in Little Rock and North Little Rock wouldn’t benefit financially or otherwise from a merger, at least not now, according to a study presented Tuesday by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The Little Rock Wastewater Utility and the North Little Rock Wastewater Utility should, however, consider cooperating more formally by discussing coming work and possibly sharing the costs of tests of treated wastewater. “There is no physical or legal connection between the two wastewater utilities that causes any problem, or that would be resolved if the two wastewater utilities were to merge,” the report said. The cities and their utilities asked for the study in July 2004.
