Have to do interview

Much has been made about the lowering and debating of our political discourse in presidential politics this election. However, I am more disturbed by the happenings on a state and local level.

Right here in Washington County, we have seen Sen. John Boozman duck and dodge challenger Conner Eldridge except for one mild debate. We have seen an absentee candidate for county judge, Joseph Wood, fail to appear thrice to debate opponent Mark Kinion. And last week we saw both of Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan’s challengers jointly back out of a debate.

If you don’t show up for the interview, don’t expect to get the job. It is disturbing that these candidates are either unwilling or unable to put their platforms on the record for the public prior to the election. Hopefully the voters will remind these candidates how important these debates are come November.
