––––– – –––– PHILLIP WYLIE fell asleep in death, though not without a fight, on February 19, 2017, surrounded by family both adopted and blood. Born on October 4, 1948 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Phil was the eldest of five boys— Dorothy and Bill Wylie’s only child for exactly one year and one day.

His long career of hard work began at age five when he was up with the sun to milk the cows before walking to school. At age eight he was promoted to brakeless log truck driver. At the age of 19 he began work for AFCO Metals, a stint that would span nearly 47 years, and prove him both a loyal employee and the archetype of a selfless provider. Though successful by all secular standards, the treasure at the heart of Phil’s life was most certainly his faith which guided him in everything. Phil dedicated himself to Jehovah and was baptized as one of his Witnesses on February 20, 1968. Not long afterwards he met his match in Sara Bowie and fell hard. Sara and Phil were to have two children and Phil taught them both a love of the outdoors and the beauty of a compassionate heart. In 1985 the family moved to Southern California where they would make lifelong friends before returning to Little Rock two years later. It was to be a permanent homecoming. friends, family, and people who only briefly made his acquaintance, knew him as a man who respected and encouraged those he met. All will miss his charm, his characteristic warmth.

Phil is survived by his wife Sara; his daughter, Brooke; his son, Michael, their spouses, Mike and Lizette; and his two grandchildren, Jack and Jude who will greatly miss those trips to the barber followed by milkshakes.

A memorial of Phillip Wylie’s life will be held Saturday, February 25, at 1 p.m. at Roller-Chen al Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. ( 501) 224- 8300. Online guestbook: www. roller funeral homes. com/ chenal.
