EASIER TRANSFERS
Pulaski Technical College’s status as a member of the University of Arkansas System became effective Feb. 1. The two-year college has been renamed University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College, or UA-Pulaski Tech.
Students will benefit from greater ease in transferring between institutions. The merger will provide greater articulation of college-transfer-program options from UA-Pulaski Tech to four-year UA System universities. Additionally, there are cost savings through economies of scale for items such as instructional technology.
“We are very excited to include Pulaski Technical College in the University of Arkansas System. It is an institution that has been very successful in offering first-rate educational opportunities to students in the heart of the state’s largest county,” said Donald R. Bobbitt, president of the UA System. “This merger is an integral part of the UA System’s statewide reach, and UA-Pulaski Tech will help us meet our goal to provide all Arkansans with exceptional educational opportunities to position our state to compete in the economy of the 21st century.”
VAST OPPORTUNITIES
About two-thirds of UA-Pulaski Tech’s students are part of the university-transfer program and plan to transfer to a fouryear college or university to pursue baccalaureate degrees. The college offers associate of arts and science degree and certificate options, including programs in allied health and human services, aviation, business, culinary arts, information technology, manufacturing and industrial and automotive technology, as well as continuing education and community services.
