Boy, 17, shot up in LR carjacking

A 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times during a carjacking at a Little Rock apartment complex Monday afternoon, police said.

Police were dispatched at 4:31 p.m. to a Taco Bell at 6223 Colonel Glenn Road for a report of a shooting in progress, said Lt. Steve McClanahan, a Little Rock Police Department spokesman.

In the parking lot of the Taco Bell, police found the teenager suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, McClanahan said.

The teenager had rushed to the Taco Bell after being shot across the street at the Big Country Chateau, an apartment complex located at 6200 Colonel Glenn Road, McClanahan said.

The victim did not have life-threatening injuries, he said, and emergency medical personnel took him to a hospital.

Police are investigating the shooting as a carjacking, McClanahan said, and a 2004 Ford Mustang was taken during the shooting. Police later found the vehicle abandoned in Boyle Park, which is located less than 2 miles from the apartment complex.

Investigators reported that the vehicle had bullet holes in it, McClanahan said.

The shooter is described as a heavy-set black male who has an afro, McClanahan said. The

suspect also had light skin and was wearing white pants and a shirt.

Tom Hamm, 52, a resident at the apartment complex, said he was watching TV inside his apartment Monday afternoon when he heard about six to eight shots in rapid succession.

Hamm said he stepped outside to see what was going on and saw blood on the sidewalk when he peered over the balcony, Hamm said.

“I saw red blotches and I knew somebody had been hit,” Hamm said.

Hamm said many of his neighbors were at home during the shooting, and some came out to see what happened.

“There’s always a lot of activity, unfortunately,” he said.

Woman arrested as ex-beau shot

A North Little Rock woman shot her ex-boyfriend Saturday afternoon, police said.

O’Tear Graves, 40, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree domestic battery, according to a police report.

Police responded at 4:19 p.m. to 1618 Allen St. for a report of a person who might have been shot, the report said.

Graves told police her ex-boyfriend — Alvertis Murry, 44, of North Little Rock — began to argue with her after following her to the Allen Street residence, according to the report.

She said Murry exited the vehicle and walked toward her while yelling obscenities. Graves told police Murry began to push her and that she started to fear for her life, the report said.

According to the report, Graves told police she reached into her purse, pulled out her handgun, which she has a permit to carry, and fired a shot toward Murry.

Murry later arrived at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, police said.

Graves told police on the scene that she did not know whether she had hit Murry, according to the report.

Police also spoke with Murry at the hospital and gathered a statement.

Graves was charged with first-degree domestic battery “based off of Murry’s severe injuries, and further circumstances of the incident,” according to the report.

An 8-year-old boy was shot multiple times with a BB gun by a man who drove by in a van and opened fire Saturday afternoon in North Little Rock, authorities said.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which was said to occur about 4:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Mills Street.

The victim’s older brother told investigators that a man the siblings didn’t know drove up, said “wassup man,” and then “began shooting at them while they were riding their bikes,” according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

The 8-year-old was hit in his right elbow and right calf. The report described the injuries as appearing to be minor.

Victim of beating found in LR home

A woman was found unconscious and beaten inside her Little Rock apartment early Sunday, police said.

Police arrived at an apartment complex on Green Mountain Drive shortly after 2:30 a.m. and found a 21-yearold woman unconscious on her bedroom floor.

A witness said he and the woman were returning from a trip to the store when a man “came out of nowhere,” grabbed the 21-year-old and started beating her, the report said. The woman has “terrible” swelling on her left eye and most of her wig was ripped out, police said.

When she woke up, the victim told police that she felt pain in her ribs, knees and back and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man accused in the assault, 26-year-old Trevis Holmes of North Little Rock, is reportedly the victim’s boyfriend. Police went to his home but were unable to locate him.

Online records show Holmes was put on four years of probation starting in March 2015 after he pleaded guilty to possession of firearms by certain persons and possession of Schedule VI controlled substances.
