Overton, Carr appointed to NAHB committees
WASHINGTON — Two members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock have been appointed to committees of the National Association of Home Builders.
J. Don Overton, CAPS, CGP, GACP, Master CGP, founder and principle of Sustainable Construction and The Overton Firm in Little Rock, has been appointed to the Construction Liability, Risk Management and Building Materials Committee and the Land Development Committee. The Construction Liability, Risk Management and Building Materials Committee works to advance the industry’s interests related to the risks associated with the construction of new homes and remodeling. The Land Development Committee supports, develops and promotes responsible, innovative, high-quality and cost-effective land-development practices, programs and resources.
Jim Carr, professor and coordinator of graduate studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Construction Management, has been appointed to the Construction Safety and Health Committee. The Construction Safety and
Health Committee provides NAHB members and state and local associations with assistance and resources to help builders operate safe job sites, comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and lower workers’ compensation costs through injury prevention.
Overton and Carr will serve one-year terms on the committees.
The NAHB is a Washington-based trade association that represents more than 140,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building-product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light-commercial construction. NAHB is affiliated with 700 state and local home builders associations around the country.
