- STORY AND PHOTOS BY CODY GRAVES, SPECIAL SECTIONS WRITER

JUST OFF ARKANSAS 26 IN ARKADELPHIA, A DRIVEWAY CUTS THROUGH 80 ACRES OF DENSE TREES TO A BEAUTIFULLY LANDSCAPED PROPERTY. A CIRCLE DRIVE GUIDES VISITORS TO THE HOME OF ATTORNEY TAYLOR KING.

Taylor and his wife, Terri, moved into the home in 2001 after an 18-month construction process. Featuring four bedrooms, four full baths, two half baths, a pool, a pavilion and more, Taylor said the home has been a great place to raise a family.

One of the home’s standout attributes is its rear patio area. The area features a large swimming pool and a new pavilion that has seating and a large gas grill. The pavilion was added last year and included a massive landscaping overhaul. Taylor said the pavilion is great for entertaining and that he has used it to host fundraisers, have business meetings and even filmed commercials for his law firm. Taylor said he expects the back area to be used for even more entertaining as his family expands. His son, Austin King, and his wife, Jillian, are expecting a son later this year.

Inside, the home is decorated in a country French style, Taylor said. The decor was handled by Greer’s Inc. of Nacogdoches, Texas, with the exception of the living room, which was recently decorated by Kenny Thomas of Laster’s Furniture Co. in Arkadelphia.

Taylor said each room in the home has been redecorated several times. The most recent project was the piano room, which is located off the foyer. This room has a gas fireplace, crown molding and two paintings that the family commissioned from local artists.

One painting is of Terri and two of the family’s dogs, which was created by Rita Earls of Arkadelphia. Another painting of Taylor and Terri’s children, Austin and Maggie, was made by Jo Ann Diffee of Bismarck.

The living room has hardwood floors and an electric fireplace and features a landscape painting by Diffee. Taylor said the fireplace originally used gas, but when the mantel fell, the family used the opportunity to change the fireplace.

Taylor said the gas fireplace made the room too hot, but the electric unit provides just enough heat and still looks great.

Another recent remodel is the master bathroom. Taylor said a leak had caused some damage, so they went ahead and remodeled. The bathroom features a free-standing tub and a large glass shower with a rainshower shower head.

One of Taylor’s favorite components of the home is its windows. The house features large windows in the rear that start in the master bathroom on the east side of the house and continue through the master bedroom, the dining room and the friends entrance on the west side. He said each room offers a different view of the back area.

“At any point, if you stand there, you can be on the couch, you can be in the bed, you can be in the chair and look out and get a different perspective,” he said. “It’s almost like a panoramic photograph.”
