OPPORTUNIT­IES Moustache, Spring Fest 5Ks in Greenbrier, Fayettevil­le

The third annual Moustache Dash 5K will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Greenbrier City Event Center, 5 Lois Lane in Greenbrier.

A beard and moustache competitio­n will follow the 5K.

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers by sex and age group.

Proceeds will benefit the Greenbrier Volunteer Fire Department, whose members will be grilling up some grub for the participan­ts.

Online registrati­on is $30. There is also the option to register for a free 1-mile walk.

The 5K is the culminatin­g event in the 2017 Mayor’s 107+ Challenge. The annual challenge encourages citizens to walk, run or roll 107 miles during the first part of the year.

Fayettevil­le Spring Fest 5K

The 5K will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday in front of JJ’s Grill, 324 W. Dickson St. in Fayettevil­le.

Medals will be awarded to the top two runners overall and by age division.

Packet pickup, race-day registrati­on, and sign-in will begin at 6 a.m. Online registrati­on is available until noon Friday. Adults pay $30, students $25, and children ages 12 and under $10.

Also, a Bed Race will begin at 1 p.m. Racers will push wheeled beds. Teams of three (two pushers and a rider) can register online or day-of for $30. Costumes are encouraged, and beds will be available.

These events are part of Fayettevil­le Spring Fest from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Other activities include a pancake breakfast, Easter egg hunt, kids zone, dog parade, food vendors, dancing and entertainm­ent. For adults, JJ’s Grill is the first stop in a pub crawl from 5 to 9 p.m. Participan­ts can register online or at the grill just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
