The six inmates scheduled to die by lethal injection this month

Don Davis

Age: 55

From: Houston, Texas. Sentenced in Benton County on March 6, 1992. Scheduled execution: Monday. Davis’ defense during his 1992 capital murder trial was that he was an accomplice to the burglary that resulted in the executions­tyle killing of Jane Daniel in her Rogers home, but that the killer was still at large. No one else has been tried in the case.

Stacey Johnson

Age: 47

From: Albuquerqu­e, N.M. Resentence­d twice, most recently in Pike County (venue changed) in November 1997. Scheduled execution: Thursday. Johnson has claimed that he was on his way back to New Mexico on the night of April 1, 1993, when police estimate that Carol Heath was murdered in her De Queen apartment while at home with her two children. He and his attorneys continue to maintain his innocence, despite DNA evidence linking him to the crime.

Ledell Lee

Age: 51

From: Jacksonvil­le.

Sentenced in Pulaski County on Oct. 16, 1995. Scheduled execution: Thursday. Police arrested Lee within hours of the 1993 beating death of Debra Lucky Reese, 26, in Jacksonvil­le, after he was linked to the crime by eyewitness testimony from a neighbor. He maintains his innocence.

Marcel Williams

Age: 46

From: North Little Rock. Sentenced in Pulaski County on Jan. 14, 1997. Scheduled execution: April

24.

After serving serving prison time for burglary, Williams was released on parole in April 1994. Several months later, he was charged with the abduction, rape and murder of Stacy Errickson, a 22-year-old mother from North Little Rock.

Jack Jones Jr.

Age: 52

From: Toledo, Ohio.

Sentenced in White County on April 17, 1996. Scheduled execution: April

24.

Jones was convicted of killing Mary Phillips, a 35-year-old bookkeeper, after raping her at her Bald Knob office. He also severely beat her 11-year-old daughter.

Since being condemned to death in 1996, DNA was used to link Jones to the rape and murder of Lorraine Anne Barrett, a Pennsylvan­ia woman, at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., hotel in 1991.

Kenneth Williams

Age: 38

From: Pine Bluff.

Sentenced in Lincoln County on Aug. 30, 2000. Scheduled execution: April

27.

Less than a month after being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a cheerleade­r, Williams escaped from the state prison Cummins Unit in 1999 and killed a local farmer, then led police in Missouri on a high-speed chase that resulted in the death of a motorist. Williams was sentenced to death for killing the farmer, Cecil Boren.

Later, he wrote a letter to the editor of The Pine Bluff Commercial confessing to another murder.
