ALLEN FURNITURE

Decades-old store offers welcoming atmosphere

-

Family-owned for more than 55 years, Allen Furniture has cemented itself into the community as a staple business of the Greers Ferry Lake area. The store offers quality name-brand furniture at competitive prices and even offers free lake-area delivery.

Greg and Candyce Allen took over the family business five years ago from Greg’s parents, Max and Dianne Allen, after Max retired in June 2012. Max had been with the business since 1975, when it was owned by a family friend, Rufo Martin. Max took over the business in 1986. Greg and Candyce have proudly carried on the family name and friendly atmosphere. Candyce said the entire business revolves around a familyoriented staff and dynamic, as the store has for decades.

“My husband has been in this store since he was 4 years old, and our children started in this store when they were 4 years old,” she said. “It’s a wonderful place where we can have a business, still be involved with our community and have our kids up here.”

She added that seldom does a weekend pass that customers won’t see her 9-year-old son in the store attempting to sell them a piece of furniture while promising to deliver it himself.

Allen furniture carries a full line of La-Z- Boy, Ashley, Best chairs and Sleeptronic mattresses. Along with the varied selection of furniture to choose from, the store also takes care of its customers if an issue happens to arise.

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Candyce said family members try to go above and beyond as much as they can for each customer who walks through their doors, ensuring that the customer gets the best deal possible.
