-

Those seeking fun and fresh air near Greers Ferry Lake can stock up on gear and learn about the best spots to explore at Sulphur Creek Outfitters in Heber Springs, which offers a wide array of outdoor products, as well as valuable insight about local landmarks.

“We are blessed to live in a beautiful natural area with plenty of adventure awaiting,” owner Frank Wimberley said. “Sulphur Creek Outfitters is here to help you live your adventure by meeting your equipment, service and rental needs.”

The store offers gear to suit most activities, including canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, cycling, f ly-fishing, climbing and disc golf, as well as apparel, life jackets, knives, hammocks and more. The shop carries leading outdoor brands, as well as T-shirts, jewelry and photography by local artists.

The company also offers a bike-repair shop that provides services ranging from simple cleanings to complete overhauls and upgrades. A 12-passenger bus with a wheelchair lift is available to shuttle passengers to local waterways and special excursions.

Staff members not only work to inform customers about outdoor equipment, but also offer advice about the best places to paddle, fish, cycle, bird-watch and more. The owners contribute to many community efforts, and Wimberley founded the Greers Ferry Lake Trails Council, which is working to complete a 10-mile trail network in Heber Springs.

“We are driven by customer input and comments,” Wimberley said. “We are fully aware that the internet offers some of the same products and is probably our biggest competitor. However, we think the personal touch and local knowledge not found on the internet give us an edge.” 625 S. Seventh St. • Heber Springs 501-691-0138 • www.screekoutfitters.com
