Dennis Dunn was arrested on a kidnapping charge after police in Blancheste­r, Ohio, said they rescued a woman being held captive in a pit hidden in a backyard shed after Dunn’s neighbors reported hearing her cries for help.

Donovan Smith of the Ngala Wildlife Preserve in Naples, Fla., is recovering from burns that he suffered while he and fire crews worked to successful­ly save Walter, an 8-year-old rhinoceros, when a wildfire that burned about 7,000 acres closed in on the refuge.
