Henderson inducts former state senator into Hall of Fame
ARKADELPHIA — Arkadelphia businessman and former state Sen. Percy Malone was inducted into Henderson State University’s School of Business Hall of Fame on April 20 as part of the annual Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet held in the Garrison Center Grand Ballroom.
Malone is president and owner of W.P. Malone Inc., which includes a chain of All-Care Pharmacies across Arkansas.
After receiving his pharmacy degree in 1965, Malone worked with I.B. Fuller in Arkadelphia. Fuller became a mentor for Malone’s community involvement, which has ranged from serving on the board of directors of the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce to serving as a delegate to Arkansas’ Constitutional Convention in 1980.
Malone, a Democrat, served in the Arkansas Senate from 2001-2012, representing the 26th Senate District. He served as chairman of the Senate Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee, chairman of the Administrative Rules and Regulations Committee and chairman of the Task Force on Abused and Neglected Children.
He also held membership on numerous other committees and subcommittees, including the Joint Budget Committee, the Arkansas Legislative Council and the Senate Insurance and Commerce Committee.
Malone also served as state representative for House District 36 from 1995 to 1999. He served as co-chairman of the Joint Budget Committee and as a member of the Insurance and Commerce Committee, the Public Health and Welfare Committee, and other committees.
Malone was named one of Arkansas’ Top 10 Legislators by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in 1999 and 2003. Throughout his legislative career, he worked to support public education and health care initiatives, protect Arkansas consumers and provide opportunities for economic growth.
