MCCLENDON’S APPLIANCE
One-stop shop is in it for the long haul
From hardware and furniture to just appliances and electronics, McClendon’s Appliance has come a long way since opening its doors in 1947.
It’s been a family business for Glen McClendon during the entire 70 years. The only significant change was in 1982, when McClendon decided to focus his efforts on appliances only.
To say that McClendon’s is customer-based would be a gross understatement.
“We are here to provide a customerfriendly experience,” McClendon said. “The customer comes first. We take care of the customer before and after the sale.”
Taking care of the customer means never applying high-pressure tactics just to make a sale.
“We want customers to feel they made the right choice when buying,” McClendon said. “We don’t pressure customers to buy anything they don’t want or need.”
McClendon considers himself a “people person” who enjoys interacting with the community, and his business has been around long enough to see third-generation customers in families.
McClendon’s carries a full line of Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Maytag, Speed Queen, and Fisher&Paykel products. The store also has a full line of parts for the brands McClendon’s sells, and the business also makes deliveries.
What McClendon values most is the personal touch that customers get from a staff that has been employed there an average of 31 years.
“When you come into McClendon’s, you see the same faces,” he said. “If you have a problem, you can come see us and not call an 800 number. We are here to please the customers. They are the No. 1 reason we have been here for 70 years.”
