JAMES W.E. BROWN, 65, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, after a long illness, at the N.L.R. Health & Rehab under the care of “Hospice Home Care Corp.” James was a two year veteran of The United State Navy. He was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Brown; mother, Trotha Lee Mayo-Brown; one brother, Wyatt Brown; and his wife, Hazel Brown. He is survived by one son, Charles Brown of South Carolina; three grand-daughters, Ashanci Brown, Kadesia Brown and Decharla Brown of Connecticu­t; six sisters, Kitty Hall, Lillie London, Warren Jackson, Lular Brown, Mary William and Martha Thornton; two brothers, Lee Brown and Don Brown. –––––❖––––– MELVA BABB DAVIS, 69, of Little Rock, Arkansas, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 29. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Ed Davis, her children Manndy Malaby (Chris), John Shoffner (Allison), Donna Wynn (Kevin), Jenifer Bohanan (Derek), and Blake Davis (Ashley). She is also survived by her beloved grandchild­ren Madalyn and Lucia Malaby, Matthew, Katherine, and Lily Shoffner, Lola and Lainey Wynn, Loren, Molly, and Rhett Bohanan, and Olivia and Owen Davis. She is survived by her siblings Donna Allen, Suzy Baxter, and Patrick Babb and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Doris Babb, and her brothers Dennis and Mike Babb.

Her devotion to family and her faith was the foundation that allowed her to touch the lives of many during her lifetime. Melva was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend and her adoration for her children and grandchild­ren was the focus of her life. She had a laugh that was contagious, a heart of gold and a southern drawl that made strangers smile. She will be greatly missed and the world is less full without her. Her loved ones will miss her “a bushel and a peck.”

–––––❖––––– Rev. JOSEPH WATSON SR., 86, of North Little Rock departed this life April 28, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Laura Watson, siblings Robert, Samuel, Jerry, Alex, and Jessie Watson, Laura, Leola, WillieMae, and Pecola, and daughter Jean Smith.

Rev. Watson joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951. He was a member of the Protho Lodge. He started singing gospel at an early age singing with the Flying Clouds and The Rixieaires. He worked with the North Little Rock Water Company from which he retired from. Rev. Watson started preaching in 1974. He Pastored at Samaritan Hill Missionary Baptist Church, White Rose Baptist Church, and retired at Pure Love Baptist Church. He was a member of New Zion Grove Baptist Church under Pastor Stephen Robinson as well Berean Disciple Church under Pastor Billy Simmons.

He leaves to cherish his memories wife Aretha Watson, children: Joseph (Sunthre) Watson Jr., Beatrice (Billy Ray) Edmondson, Robert Watson and Billy Jean Gant, one brother, James Lee Watson, 17 Grandchild­ren, 34 great-grandchild­ren and nine great-great-grandchild­ren.
