Gun Runner romps

Gun Runner, racing for the first time since running second to Arrogate in the Dubai World Cup in March, went wire-to-wire Saturday to win the Grade I Stephen F. Foster Handicap by 7 lengths at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. Gun Runner ($3), who won the Razorback Handicap in February at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, was ridden by Florent Geroux and trained by Steve Asmussen. Gun Runner ran the 11/8-mile race in 1:47.56. In other graded stakes on the card, McCraken ($2.40), unraced since an eighth-place finish in the May 6 Kentucky Derby, scored a 2¼-length victory in the Grade III $100,000 Matt Winn Stakes with jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. in the 1 1/16-mile race. Kasaqui ($8.40), ridden by James Graham, won the Grade II $200,000 Wise Dan by 2¾ lengths over Chocolate Ride at 1 1/16 mile on the turf. Even-money favorite Forever Unbridled ($4.20) won the 11/8-mile Grade II $200,000 Fleur De Lis Handicap for older fillies and mares in 1:49.94. Forever Unbridled won the 2016 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park.
