The Mist

Stephen King drama airs on Spike

- — Rosemary Boggs

Cable channel Spike has stayed in the programming trenches over the last few years by tirelessly airing shows like Cops and Campus PD, the tattoo competition

Ink Master and older theatrical films. The channel hasn’t produced much original programming. But that changes with the introduction of the 10-episode serialized drama

The Mist. It premieres at 9 p.m. Thursday and is based on the theatrical version from 2007.

Based on a story by Stephen King, the series is set in Maine, where the residents of Bridgeville find themselves engulfed by a foreboding mist containing a myriad of bizarre and inexplicable threats. It centers on a family torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout, the mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows as they battle the mist and its threats, fighting to maintain sanity as the rules of society break down.

Starring in The Mist are Frances Conroy, Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Isiah Whitlock Jr. , Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezio Morro, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler and Luke Cosgrove.
