-

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, fell 3.91 to 329.88 Wednesday.

“Weakness in crude oil prices for the second straight day pressured energy stocks Wednesday and limited equity prices,” said Leon Lants, managing director at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock.

Three stocks advanced and 15 declined.

Total volume for the index was 25.3 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
