Library releases naming sites, donors

BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Quorum Court approved the Independen­ce County Library’s naming policy for its new library building. The library’s board chairman, Bill Walmsley, reported to the library board at its regular meeting Monday that seven people and entities had selected naming sites and pledged $249,000 for the library. Only nine naming sites remain.

Those pledging are Citizens Bank, for the Board Room, $50,000; First Community Bank, for the Children’s Department, $50,000; Mike and Bobbie Low/Midwest Lime Co. Inc., for the Book Store/ Gift Shop, $50,000; Ray and Diane Lacroix, for the Circulatio­n Area, $25,000; Lacroix Precision Optics, for the Computer Instructio­n Classroom, $25,000; Atlas Asphalt/WRM, for the Reading Room, 25,000; and Willa Harkey, Bill Walmsley and Tim Weaver, for the Law Library, $24,000.

The library, currently at 368 E. Main St. in Batesville, will move to its new location, The Barnett Building, at 267 E. Main St., in 2018.
