CARLA JEAN JONES, 80, of Sherwood, Ark., passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017. She was born March 2, 1937, in Stuttgart, Ark., to the late Lloyd and Irma (Erstine) Nofziger.

The life of this woman was filled with experience­s not common today. Foremost, Carla was committed to a loving marriage of 60 years. Carla’s interests included family genealogy, a love for the written word and the characters derived from such, Texas Hold ‘Em, family tournament­s, and rousing rounds of watching Jeopardy, in which she usually prevailed as the champion of the Jones clan. She also dedicated her life and love to three children and departed from this life knowing the unconditio­nal love of nine grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren, a most beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her step-mothers, Vivian Nofziger, as well as DeeDee Erion; and her brother, Charles Nofziger. Carla is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Jones of Sherwood, Ark.; daughter, Ginger Goldsberry (Don) of Hernando, Miss.; son, Dale Jones (Audrey) of Boise, Idaho; and son, Dean Jones (Candy) of Hot Springs, Ark. She also leaves nine grandchild­ren, Jennifer Johnson, Jeff Waters, Ann Brown, Derek Jones, Adrianna Jones, Donovan Jones, Sara Schaffner, Dawson Jones, and Sophia Jones; and several great-grandchild­ren, Cameron McCain, Brittany McCain, Sierra Waters, Patrick Waters, Laken Brown, Tallon Brown, Parker Strom, Devon Strom and Malia Clyburn.

An informal celebratio­n of life will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, with Reverend Duawn Mearns officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

–––––❖––––– JAMES WILLIAM “BILL” “BUTCH” RIVES, age 74, of Little Rock, Ark., died Friday, June 23, 2017, at CHI St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born May 29, 1943 in Little Rock. He is the son of James A. and Dorothy Harris Rives.

He was a Navy veteran and retired from the Little Rock Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt and uncle, Cecil (Chick) and Rose Rives; his daughter, Tracy Rives Chambers; his sister, Joan Woodell; and previous wife, Joy Lankford Rives.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Cashion Rives; son, Larry (Angela) Rives of Cane Hill, Ark.; his daughters, Shannan Rives of Little Rock, Jamie (Al) Dunaway of Deer Lodge, Tenn., Tamela (Curt) Taylor of Scranton, Ark.; his sisters, Jimmie Dot Thomas of Little Rock, and Rosalie McVay of Littlerock, Calif.; and his cousin, Sue Riggin of Little Rock. He also is survived by ten grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Hwy 5 North, Alexander. Graveside services

will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

–––––❖––––– MICHAEL BARNETT WRIGHT, 79 of Little Rock, died on June 23, 2017. He was born in Little Rock on Sept. 21, 1937, son of the late Max Barnett Wright and Berniece Tomlinson Wright.

He was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Little Rock University, and the University of Arkansas, Fayettevil­le. He was employed for almost 34 years by the University of Arkansas Cooperativ­e Extension Service, retiring as Assistant Director in 1998.

He was active in the program of the Boy Scouts of America for over 55 years. He served as Scoutmaste­r of Troop 6 for 34 years, during which time over 40 Scouts attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a holder of the National President’s Scoutmaste­r Award of Merit, the District Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver. He was a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He held various leadership positions in Frontier District and served the Quapaw Area Council as Vice President for Administra­tion and a member of the Executive Board.

He was a former member of Markham United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Chairman of the Administra­tive Council. At the time of his death, he was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church.

He was a life member and Past President of the Optimist Club of Rosedale. He had served as treasurer of the Cooperativ­e Extension Service Federal Credit Union since 1983.

Survivors are his wife, Louise W. Wright; brother, Ralph D. Wrght and wife Betty of Little Rock; niece, Laura Wright Morford of Cypress, Texas; two step-children, Kevin Pittman (wife, April) of Fayettevil­le, and Allison Madison (husband, Larry) of Seattle, Wash.; and five step-grandchild­ren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janeil Slayden Wright, who died in 1994.

Memorial service will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
